The builder

Abrazo Homes is a production builder in Albuquerque, New Mexico, building about 200 homes a year. It is co-owned by RIoT’s founder and CEO Brian McCarthy and co-founder Mackenzie Bishop, which is why it became RIoT’s first deployment, and why we say so up front.

The deployment

166 homes across six communities carry the full RIoT Kit: smart water meter and automatic shutoff valves, a 9-in-1 room sensor, whole-home energy sensing, HVAC filter monitoring, leak and moisture sensors, the optional wall tablet, and the controller and gateway: wired at framing, no batteries. Abrazo’s own superintendents installed the kit at rough-in and final from the labeled parts, alongside the electrician, plumber and HVAC crews already on site. No new trade, no schedule change.

What every home reports

Water leaks, freeze risk and unusual usage, with automatic shutoff
Room-by-room humidity and mold-risk conditions
Whole-home energy use benchmarked across the community
Filter life and furnace health

The homeowner experience

Abrazo homeowners see RIoT as Abrazo Intelligence: their builder’s brand in the RIoT Home app, with leak and freeze alerts, air-quality and filter reminders, and a performance record that stays with the home.

What’s next

Measured warranty results from the deployment are being compiled and will be published here2. Every Abrazo home contracted after 8 September 2026 ships on the RIoT HomeVault, the platform described on The Kit page; the first HomeVault communities come online this winter.
